Legal Assistant, Employment

Due to continued growth, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full-time legal assistant to join the employment team of our well-established law firm based in Leeds City Centre.

Previous experience of working in a law firm would be a distinct advantage, as would working on a help desk/advice line.

We are particularly interested in applications from confident self-starters who are not afraid to hit the ground running. If you have completed and passed the Legal Practice course this would also be a distinct advantage.

The duties will include but are not limited to:

  • taking initial instructions from clients
  • to attend conferences with Counsel/Court/Tribunal/Inquest and represent the firm and client as required;
  • opening new matter files
  • managing files
  • drafting correspondence and legal documents
  • reading legal documents/correspondence and drafting/sending out correspondence on behalf of fee earners
  • dealing with telephone enquiries
  • assisting on the help desk, as and when required
  • filing, printing, photocopying and any other ad hoc jobs to assist fee earners

Qualifications

The candidate will ideally:

  • hold a law degree
  • have undertaken and passed the Legal Practice Course

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • excellent communication skills
  • exceptional attention to detail
  • excellent telephone manner
  • a flexible approach to work, with the ability to multitask
