Kettering Hospital ward accused of traumatising children may close

Children’s services could close down at a hospital accused of leaving young patients sick and traumatised through poor care. The care regulator have said it has taken action to “ensure people are safe” on Skylark ward at Kettering General Hospital in Northamptonshire. The hospital has apologised to families who felt let down.

Our Medical Negligence solicitor, Roisin Hulme, said:

“The stories outlined in the BBC investigation are every parent’s worst nightmare having put their trust in medical professionals. It is hard to understand how the these young children could have been let down so badly by the Kettering General Hospital. The involvement of the CQC is positive but it can take time for improvements to be made. It is hoped that their continued involvement coupled with the threat of the ward being closed will lead to prompt action to protect the children currently in their care.
