Over 130 jobs at risk as ARJ Construction Ltd set to enter administration

We are sorry to read reports that the Stevenage-based main contractor, ARJ Construction Ltd has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators and employees were first notifies of redundancies Monday 29 April. Furthermore, we have now been contacted by previous employees who have confirmed that as of Tuesday 30 April, redundancies have been made. The company employed over 130 staff.

Unfortunately, it is common for administrators to make immediate redundancies, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:

  • 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
  • There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.

If you have been made redundant and need advice, contact our employment team confidentially now for more information.

There are strict Tribunal deadlines within which to pursue these claims, so you mustn’t delay if you believe you may be affected.
