Nearly 150 jobs lost as Ted Baker closes stores

We are now seeing reports that the well known fashion brand, Ted Baker Ltd, will close 11 of its stores and cut roles at their head office. This has resulted in the loss of 120 store positions and 25 head office roles.

The fashion brand appointed Benji Dymant and Daniel Smith from Teneo as joint administrators on March 22, following trading well below forecast in Q4.

Unfortunately, it is common for administrators to make immediate redundancies, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:

  • 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
  • There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.

If you have been made redundant and need advice, contact our employment team confidentially now for more information.

There are strict Tribunal deadlines within which to pursue these claims, so you mustn’t delay if you believe you may be affected.
