Kettle Interiors UK Ltd enters administration

More than 120 employees have lost their jobs at Northamptonshire based Kettle Interiors due to “economic challenges” according to the Administrators.

Kettle Interiors, a family-run business has sold furniture for over 30 years under various brands including Mambo and Mint to retailers across the UK and Europe. The Administrator cited that the company has faced a number of challenges since the Covid-19 pandemic including a significant recent increase in freight costs which has led to it being placed into administration.

If you worked at Kettle Interiors on Macadam Road and have lost your job as a result of the administration, you could claim up to 90 days’ gross pay by making a Protective Award Claim.

Generally, the administrators will provide staff with information about their rights to claim redundancy, notice, holiday and arrears of pay, when their employment ends. However, when making 20 or more redundancies at one workplace, employers also have a duty to inform and consult with employee representatives. If an employer fails to do this or fails to do it correctly, claims can potentially be made for compensation. Tribunals can award up to 90 days’ pay per redundant employee (called a ‘protective award’) and in cases of insolvency, some of this can be recovered from the government’s Insolvency Service.

Generally, a claim must be pursued within 3 months (less a day) of the date of your redundancy, subject to any extension granted by using the ACAS Early Conciliation process.
