Jobs lost in the administration of Youngs Transportation and Warehousing Ltd

We are sorry to read reports that jobs have been lost in the administration of Youngs Transport and Warehousing Ltd. Alex Cadwallader and Dane O’Hara, from Leonard Curtis, were appointed as joint administrators on Wednesday 31 January. Whilst Leonard Curtis were able to secure a sale for one of the company’s sites in the North West, two other sites are being shut down with significant redundancies being made.

Unfortunately, it is common for administrators to make immediate redundancies, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:

  • 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
  • There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.

If you have been made redundant and need advice, contact our employment team confidentially now for more information.

There are strict Tribunal deadlines within which to pursue these claims, so you mustn’t delay if you believe you may be affected.
