Britishvolt enters administration

Blyth-based battery manufacturer Power by Britishvolt Ltd has appointed administrators, making the majority of its workforce of over 200 staff redundant with immediate effect. 

Making redundancies without consultation could give rise to claims for up to 90 days’ pay by way of a protective award.

When making more than 20 redundancies at one workplace, employers are under a duty to inform and consult with employee representatives. If they fail to do this, claims can be made for compensation.
