Make a Protective Award Claim

If you’re a former J.Crew employee and have been made redundant from their Mayfair or Chelsea store or any other store that made 20 or more employees redundant without consultation then you may be entitled to make a protective award claim.
What is a protective award and am I entitled to one? When 20 or more employees are made redundant from 1 workplace or store, it is a legal requirement for the employer to follow the correct redundancy procedures. This includes arranging collective consultation with employee representatives before making any employees redundant. This process should start at least 30 days before the redundancies. Failure to do so could result in employees being eligible to bring a protective award claim.
If the claim is successful then you can be awarded up to 90 days’ pay. Up to 8 weeks of this award can be paid by the Insolvency Service, which guarantees certain employee redundancy entitlements. For more information, please read our helpful redundancy protective award FAQs.
