What is Pleural Thickening?

Pleural thickening is scarring of the membrane covering the lungs. If this scarring is extensive the condition is referred to as diffuse pleural thickening. Pleural thickening and diffuse pleural thickening often develops as a result of exposure to asbestos for protracted periods of time.

These illnesses can cause breathing difficulties and are also a sign of changes to the body as a result of asbestos. This can mean that the individual is at a small but significantly increased risk of developing a more serious asbestos related condition.

If you have been diagnosed with pleural thickening caused by exposure to asbestos, please contact our experienced Personal Injury Solicitors on 033 3344 9600 or request a callback.

Make a Pleural Thickening Compensation Claim

Pleural thickening is an asbestos-related disease typically linked to being exposed to asbestos whilst at work. Other people suffering are affected from coming into regular contact with someone who worked with asbestos. For example, a spouse washing their partners work clothes after their shift.

Employers have a duty to protect their employees from exposure to asbestos and other hazardous substances. If you or a loved one have developed pleural thickening because of exposure to asbestos at work, you could be entitled to make a pleural thickening compensation claim.

Please note, these types of claims are subject to strict 3-year time limits you must make a claim within 3 years from the date you were diagnosed with pleural thickening. We recommend contacting our Personal Injury Solicitors as soon as you’ve been diagnosed to ensure your solicitor can build you the best possible case.

Most asbestos claims we take on are funded by No Win No Fee agreement, meaning you do not have to pay upfront for your legal fees. If your claim is successful, then a small percentage will be deducted from the compensation award and if your claim doesn’t succeed you will not have to pay anything.
