Inspiration:
What really inspires me is championing the underdog - acting for the little person, if you will. There are so many big institutions around these days that just steamroller over people without a thought. Every now and again, we get to pull people clear, and that inspires me.
Just after I graduated with my BA, I worked as a legal secretarial typist. One day, I remember turning off my electronic typewriter (which is all we had back then) and went over to my colleague who was an Articled Clerk, and asked her "Do you enjoy your job, and doing this kind of work?" She looked at me knowingly and said, "Have you been bitten by the bug too?" And I made a decision, which I've never since questioned, to become a lawyer.

Heroes:
I'm not sure I have any specific hero, but one particular character who I think is heroic is the Thomas More character in the play "A Man for All Seasons", where he went along with the Reformation until there came a point that he could no longer support it in good conscience. He stood his ground because he decided to be true to himself, instead of following the crowd. That action, and the way it is portrayed in the play, is something that chimes with the idea of heroism.
