Specialist Areas of Practise

Inspiration:

I get my best inspiration from my family, always. A bad day at the office, I get home, shut the door and they immediately make me feel ok. A good day at the office, I get home, shut the door and they make me feel even better. It inspires me to do the best for them. I had a fantastic childhood and if I can give half of what I had, then my kids will be fine.

At work what inspires me is negotiating compensation for those that deserve it but where often the odds have been stacked against them, the ones where you have faith in your client but the evidence doesn’t neatly lend itself to the claim being successful. For example the workplace can be a vulnerable place particularly at times of recession. When accidents occur at work witnesses become concerned about their jobs, they won’t get involved for fear of redundancy and often that can make it difficult for your client. Negotiating a settlement in these types of cases not only makes you feel good, but is also just and equitable.

Specialises in:

Claimant personal injury, manages the firm’s Property Department.

Career with Morrish Solicitors:

I specialise in claimant personal injury work having represented thousands of Trades Union members and private clients since qualifying in 1993. I became a Partner in 1999.

I am Head of Department for two existing Trade Unions and represent clients on a wide range of personal injury work, from minor injury to the most serious. I have developed a particular expertise in work related upper limb disorder (WRULD) often referred to as repetitive strain injury (RSI).

I am Head of Department for our Conveyancing Department managing a team of extremely talented, competent, and accomplished residential Conveyancing lawyers/Legal Executives.

I also have expertise in matters relating to welfare benefits.

Interests:

I am married and have two daughters. Time with my family is extremely precious to me.

I am interested in all sports particularly football which I played at semi professional level and support Newcastle Utd who I try to watch as often as I can, family permitting (ok..two young kids do have some drawbacks!). Reading when I get the chance is also a pleasure.

Heroes:

Mum and Dad. They prioritised family above everything else. It wasn’t just about money, possessions, career success, but more about good old fashioned time. Time spent with my twin brother and older sister as a family sometimes to the detriment of materialistic factors. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. It made us into a close family.

Finally, my wife of course, for putting up with me, (that’s pretty heroic) for being a great mother and at the same time achieving success in her own chosen legal career.
